The Giacomo Cortes community and their contribution to our future.

Time is running out on our earth!

Resources are being consumed faster, CO2 levels are rising, and poles and glaciers are melting.

That's why Giacomo Cortes set himself the goal of being carbon-neutral and supporting the global efforts to save our climate and the planet Earth.

In this context, it is important for us, the team headed by Giacomo Cortes, to emphasize that we do not support any political direction in this regard. Neither today nor in the future. It is only important to us that the emission of gases and substances destroying the ozone layer of our earth is reduced or neutralized. The change of an ozone hole can be measured, no matter which political opinion is à la mode.

Also, we are not on a crusade to argue about the consequences of CO2 emissions. Only one thing has become clear to us: It needs balance everywhere - in a healthy nature, in a healthy body or in a work created by humans. Without balance there is no beauty, no health and no happiness.

A person living in a modern industrial country currently generates a total of about 15 tonnes of CO2 per year through his lifestyle (nutrition, locomotion, consumer behavior).

How much CO2 does a tree neutralize?

To get a rough idea about the CO2 binding capacity of trees, this example helps: Imagine a normally grown beech, which is 23 meters high and has a diameter of about 30 centimeters at a root height of 1.30 meters. This tree stores about 550 kilos of dry matter in its leaves, branches and trunk. Adding about ten percent more, which are stored in the root biomass, a total of about 600 kilograms of dry matter are bound. This amount of dry matter can bind one ton of CO2.

But to absorb one tonne of CO2, the beech must grow for about 80 years. This means that beech binds 12.5 kilograms of the greenhouse gas every year. So we have to plant 80 trees to compensate for one tonne of CO2 per year through trees.

So much work still needs to be done to neutralize the annual CO2 emissions of people on our planet!

Giacomo Cortes is now planting up to 25 trees for every clock that leaves our house!
